Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics Statement – JEB17 (Journal of Economics and Business)

The publication ethics of JEB17: Journal of Economics and Business refer to the ethical standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—must adhere to the following ethical principles:

1. Responsibilities of Editors

  1. Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts will be published, based solely on academic merit, relevance to the journal’s scope, and the quality of the research.

  2. Editors must ensure that all manuscripts are evaluated fairly, objectively, and without discrimination based on gender, religion, ethnicity, political views, or the authors’ institutional affiliation.

  3. Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not disclose any information to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, or editorial board members.

  4. Editors must ensure that the review process is conducted ethically and transparently, free from conflicts of interest, and that all reviewers’ comments are used to improve the quality of the paper.

  5. In cases of suspected misconduct, plagiarism, or data fabrication, editors are obligated to investigate and take appropriate action, including correction or retraction if necessary.

2. Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Authors must ensure that their manuscript is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under review by any other journal.

  2. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of data and the authenticity of the research. All data sources and literature must be properly cited to avoid plagiarism.

  3. Authorship must accurately reflect individual contributions to the research and writing. All authors must approve the final version of the paper before submission.

  4. Authors must clearly disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation of the results.

  5. Authors must acknowledge all sources of financial or institutional support for the research.

  6. If significant errors are discovered after publication, authors must promptly inform the editor to enable correction or retraction.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  1. Reviewers assist the editorial board in evaluating the academic quality of manuscripts and help authors improve their work through constructive feedback.

  2. Reviews must be conducted objectively and confidentially, focusing on the content rather than the identity of the authors.

  3. Reviewers must declare any potential conflicts of interest and withdraw from the review process if such conflicts exist.

  4. Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the author and report any suspicion of plagiarism or duplicate submission to the editor.

4. Responsibilities of the Publisher

  1. The publisher (Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya) ensures that all stages of the publication process comply with ethical and professional standards.

  2. The publisher supports editors in handling ethical issues and is committed to maintaining academic integrity throughout the publication process.

  3. The publisher will take appropriate measures to clarify, correct, or retract any published content found to violate ethical principles.

5. Ethical Considerations in Research

  1. Research involving human participants, interviews, or surveys must follow ethical guidelines ensuring informed consent and confidentiality.

  2. Any potential ethical approval or permit obtained must be declared within the manuscript if applicable.

6. Sanctions for Ethical Violations

In the event of proven ethical misconduct—such as plagiarism, data falsification, authorship manipulation, or duplicate publication—JEB17 reserves the right to reject, retract, or blacklist the manuscript and authors involved in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Declaration:
All authors submitting to JEB17 must agree to comply with this publication ethics statement and confirm that the submitted manuscript fulfills all ethical and academic integrity requirements.
