Implementation of the Student Community Service Program to Improve the Function of Mosques as Educational and Social Centers for the Community

Abstract
Since the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ era, mosques have played a vital role as centers of worship, education, and community life. However, over time, many mosques have become limited to worship activities only. Through the Community Service Program (KKN) at Bani Sa’ud Mosque in Jaten, Karanganyar, students sought to restore the mosque’s role as an educational and social center. This study employed a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative analysis to explore the implementation process and quantitative analysis using the Participation Count method to measure community engagement. Programs such as Qur’an Learning (TPA), Arabic Club, Tahsin, Faith-Building Night (Mabit), Youth Forum, Sunday Lecture, Vegetable Charity, and Digital Da’wah Training were collaboratively conducted with the mosque congregation. Data revealed high enthusiasm, with an average participation rate of 71.2%. The findings illustrate that collaboration between students and the community revitalized the mosque’s atmosphere into a more active, educational, and socially empowering space.

Abstrak
Masjid sejak masa Rasulullah ﷺ memiliki fungsi penting sebagai pusat ibadah, pendidikan, dan sosial masyarakat. Namun, perkembangan zaman membuat sebagian masjid mengalami penyempitan fungsi yang hanya berfokus pada kegiatan ibadah. Melalui program Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) di Masjid Bani Sa’ud Jaten, Karanganyar, mahasiswa berupaya menghidupkan kembali fungsi masjid sebagai ruang edukasi dan sosial umat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran (mixed method) yang memadukan pendekatan kualitatif untuk memahami dinamika kegiatan serta pendekatan kuantitatif melalui analisis partisipasi masyarakat (Participation Count). Berbagai kegiatan seperti TPA, Arabic Club, Tahsin, Mabit, Kajian Remaja, Kajian Ahad, Sayur Berkah, dan Pelatihan Konten Dakwah Digital dilaksanakan secara partisipatif bersama jamaah dan takmir. Data menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dari masyarakat dengan tingkat partisipasi rata-rata mencapai 71,2%. Hasil penelitian ini menggambarkan bahwa kolaborasi antara mahasiswa dan masyarakat mampu menghadirkan suasana masjid yang lebih hidup, edukatif, dan berdaya sosial.
