Efektivitas Play-Based Occupational Therapy dalam Meningkatkan Quality of Life pada Anak Penderita Kanker
Abstract
Several studies have shown that the quality of life of children with cancer is generally lower compared to healthy children, especially in those who have just been diagnosed with cancer. Low quality of life, if not addressed promptly, can impact the success of therapy and the child's survival. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of play-based occupational therapy in improving the quality of life of children with cancer. This is a quantitative experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The researcher used purposive sampling to select participants or samples. One experimental group in this study received six sessions of play-based occupational therapy over two weeks, with each session lasting 55-75 minutes. All participants underwent measurements before the intervention (pretest) and after the intervention (posttest). This study used a quality of life scale (α = 0.967). Data analysis using a paired sample t-test showed that play-based occupational therapy was significantly effective in improving the quality of life of children with cancer. The participants also expressed satisfaction, happiness, and enthusiasm during the play-based occupational therapy activity.
