Abstract

This study aims to explore the psychological well-being of migrant tutors from outside Java Island who work at the World English course institution in Kampung Inggris Pare, Kediri. The research employs a qualitative approach using phenomenological methods to understand the experiences and dynamics of psychological well-being among tutors in the context of cultural adaptation, work pressures, and financial challenges. The participants consist of four migrant tutors selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The results reveal that migrant tutors face various challenges, such as homesickness, acculturation stress, and financial pressures, yet they maintain psychological well-being through social support, stress management, and adaptive strategies. Supportive work environments, positive relationships with colleagues, and interactions with students emerge as crucial elements enhancing their well-being. This study contributes theoretically to the literature on psychological well-being, particularly in the context of non-formal education, and offers practical implications for course institutions to design support programs for migrant tutors.
