The Indonesian version of MLQ, which consists of two dimensions (namely Presence of Meaning and Searching for Meaning), was tested using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling (ESEM). The CFA results showed a two-factor model that has a model fit that is in the acceptable category (CFI = 0.937; TLI = 0.916; RMSEA = 0.077; SRMR = 0.064) with factor loading > 0.50 on all items. The ESEM analysis provides better model fit results (CFI = 0.977; TLI = 0.960; RMSEA = 0.053; SRMR = 0.026). Both dimensions demonstrated high reliability (α > 0.80). These findings indicate that the factor structure of the Indonesian version of the MLQ is good, so it can be widely used in research related to the meaning of life in Indonesia.
2026-02-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) https://jurnal.untag-sby.ac.id/index.php/fenomena/article/view/132639 Pengembangan dan Penyusunan Alat Ukur Psikologis untuk Kecanduan Media Sosial pada Remaja 2025-12-30T15:44:50+00:00 Imelda Fransisca Sudirlan imeldafsudirlan28@gmail.com Pipih Muhopilah imeldafsudirlan28@gmail.com
The rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly shaped adolescents’ lives, especially through social media use. While designed to facilitate communication and information sharing, excessive use can lead to addictive behaviors that harm mental health, academic achievement, and relationships. Young (1996) notes that internet and social media addiction are marked by a compulsive urge to continue using them, disrupting daily activities. This study aimed to develop and validate a psychological instrument to measure social media addiction among adolescents. A quantitative research design with an instrument development approach was applied, involving 41 randomly selected students from SMAN 1 Palimanan. The instrument was based on Griffiths’ (2005) Technology Addiction Theory, which includes salience, excessive use, neglect of duty, antisocial behavior, and lack of control. These dimensions produced 15 indicators and 50 items in both favorable and unfavorable forms. Development steps included readability testing, expert validation, field trials, and psychometric analysis using SPSS. Results showed 37 valid items with item-total correlations above the r-table (0.2542) and a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.920, indicating excellent reliability. This instrument can help researchers, practitioners, and educators in early detection, risk mapping, and intervention for reducing the negative effects of social media overuse.
2025-12-30T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Imelda Fransisca Sudirlan, Pipih Muhopilah
