PERAN MEDIA SOSIAL TWITTER DALAM MEMBENTUK GERAKAN SOSIAL #MELAWAN ASAP DI RIAU
Abstract
Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang kekuatan media baru yaitu media sosial Twitter yang mampu membentuk gerakan sosial, dalam hal ini adalah menyuarakan penderitaan masyarakat Riau terhadap kabut Asap yang terjadi secara terus menerus setiap tahunnya.Latar belakang dari penelitian ini adalah reaksi dari kabut asap di Riau yang menimbulkan rasa kekecewaan terhadap pemerintah dan bentuk dari rasa empati dengan terbentuknya #MelawanAsap Tujuan penelitian ini ingin mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan Twitter sebagai media sosial dalam menyuarakan penderitaan masyrakat Riau akibat bencana kabut asap di Riau dalam membentuk gerakan sosial #Melawanasap. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan metode penelitian Deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa #MelawanAsap merupakan salah satu saluran bagi masyarakat dalam menyampaikan kekecewaan dan menyuarakan penderitaan masyarakat terhadap kabut asap di Riau. Sehingga terjadinya tindak lanjut yang berawal dari gerakan #MelawanAsap. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Twitter berperan dan memiliki kekuatan besar dalam membentuk gerakan sosial.
