A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF TRANSITION SIGNALS IN NARRATIVES AND POPULAR SCIENTIFIC TEXTS
Abstract
Data diperoleh dari kumpulan dongeng Thomas A. Green berjudul World Folktales (2008) dan Omniglot the Language Encyclopedia Online. Persamaan penggunaan dalam dongeng dan artikel ilmiah adalah dalam jenis konektor (also, therefore, next, thus, however, too), koordinator (and, but,so for, or, and so, and yet), dan subordinator (while, since, though, when, as, before, as though, if, until, because, after). Sementara perbedaan melibatkan penggunaan konektor (then, and then, and then on the other, and on the other, instead of, and moreover, and thus, for thus, or otherwise and just then), koordinator (so that and as yet), subordinators (as soon as, but if, till, as if, and after, for when, and as, after a time, and because, just as soon as, after that, and after that, and if, and when, so when, as before, until after, meanwhile, but when, and and though). Transition signals yang hanya ditemukan pada artikel ilmiah adalah konektor (for example, indeed, an example, for instance, accordingly, in fact, in brief and otherwise), koordinator (or so), suibordinator (although, even though, even after, but after, so if, but for and so while, despite, such as, years ago, in the middle ages, at the end, another and over the last half).
