JPM17: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat

Publication Ethics Policy based on COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) for JPM17: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat

  1. Purpose and Scope JPM17: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat adheres to the principles and guidelines set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure the highest standards of publication ethics. This policy outlines the ethical responsibilities for all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, and reviewers. The aim is to promote integrity, transparency, and trust in scholarly publishing.
  2. Duties of Editors
  • Fair and Unbiased Decision Making: Editors are responsible for making fair and unbiased decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of submitted manuscripts. Manuscripts should be evaluated solely based on their intellectual merit, without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or institutional affiliations.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must ensure the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and not disclose any information regarding the manuscript to anyone other than the relevant parties involved in the peer review and publication process. They should maintain the anonymity of reviewers and authors during the review process, if required.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must declare any potential conflicts of interest that may influence their decision-making process. If a manuscript involves the work of an editor or an individual with a close relationship to the editor, the editor must recuse themselves from the decision-making process and assign the manuscript to another qualified editor.
  • Plagiarism and Ethical Concerns: Editors must take appropriate measures to address any suspected cases of plagiarism, fraudulent data, or other ethical concerns raised by readers, reviewers, or other authors. Such cases should be investigated thoroughly and dealt with in accordance with COPE guidelines. In cases of proven misconduct, appropriate corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern should be published promptly.
  • 3. Duties of Authors
  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their submitted manuscripts are original works and have not been published elsewhere. Proper citations and references should be provided for all sources used. Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited. Authors should acknowledge and cite the work of others appropriately.
  • Authorship and Acknowledgements: Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research. All named authors should have participated in the study and should be able to take public responsibility for the content of the manuscript. Any individuals or organizations that have contributed to the research should be acknowledged appropriately. Any conflicts of interest or funding sources that may have influenced the research or findings should be disclosed.
  • Data Integrity: Authors must present their research findings accurately and honestly. Manipulation or fabrication of data is considered unethical and should be avoided. Authors should retain their raw data for a reasonable period and be prepared to provide access to it if requested.
  • Multiple Submissions and Redundant Publication: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously. Submitting a manuscript to more than one journal concurrently is a violation of publication ethics. Authors should also avoid redundant publication by not submitting substantially similar manuscripts that overlap in content to different journals. Any related works or publications should be properly cited.
  1. Duties of Reviewers
  • Peer Review Process: Reviewers play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of published manuscripts. Reviewers should conduct their reviews objectively, providing constructive and unbiased feedback to the authors and editors. They should assess the manuscript's originality, methodology, significance, and ethical considerations.
  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of the review process and not disclose any information about the manuscript or its contents to anyone other than the editors. Reviewers should not use any information obtained during the review process for personal gain.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may affect their ability to provide an unbiased review. If a reviewer feels they are not qualified to review a particular manuscript or has a conflict of interest, they should promptly inform the editors. Reviewers should not accept manuscripts for review if they have a personal or professional relationship with the authors that may compromise their impartiality.
  • Timeliness: Reviewers should complete their reviews in a timely manner, adhering to the agreed-upon deadlines. If a reviewer is unable to meet the deadline, they should inform the editors promptly. Reviewers should provide clear and constructive feedback to the authors to improve the quality of the manuscript.
  1. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern JPM17: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat is committed to correcting the scientific record when errors or misconduct are identified. In cases of proven misconduct, appropriate corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern will be published promptly, following the guidelines provided by COPE.
  2. Transparency and Open Access JPM17: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat encourages transparency and open access to research findings. Authors should provide sufficient information and data to allow others to replicate and verify their research. JPM17: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat supports the principles of open access and encourages authors to consider publishing their work under open access licenses.
  3. Compliance with Ethical Guidelines Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to comply with the ethical guidelines outlined in this policy. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in corrective actions, including rejection of manuscripts, retraction of published articles, or exclusion from the journal's future publication activities.
  4. Policy Review This publication ethics policy will be periodically reviewed and updated to ensure its continued relevance and compliance with evolving ethical standards in scholarly publishing. Any updates or revisions to the policy will be communicated to the relevant stakeholders.
