Metode Behavioral Art Program untuk Meningkatkan Interaksi Sosial Anak dengan ASD

Abstract

Abstract

Aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of Behavioral Art Program that developed by Cou, Lee, and Feng in order to improve interaction social skill children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through self-presentation in autism service center. Participants of this study four children with ASD at third level who was selected through purposive sampling technique. Participants was divided in to two group based on their characteristic: children who tend to work in noisy situation and children who tend to work in calm condition. The intervention in this study was carried out 6 times divided into 3 sessions:  baseline, treatment, and non-treatment. The result showed that all participants improved their interaction social skill. Thus improvement was caused by their consistency attending the intervention program, their ability to understand, and the use of five step of presentation cards.

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat keefektivitasan Behavioral Art Program yang dikembangkan oleh Chou, Lee, dan Feng dalam meningkatkan kemampuan interaksi sosial anak dengan Autism Spectrum Disoder (ASD) melalui presentasi diri di Pusat Layanan Autis. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 4 orang yang diperoleh melalui teknik purposive sampling pada anak-anak ASD yang berada di level 3. Keempat anak dikelompokkan menjadi 2 kelompok besar berdasarkan karakteristik anak, yakni anak yang bekerja dalam suasana ramai dan anak yang bekerja dalam suasana tenang. Intervensi dalam penelitian ini dilakukan sebanyak 6 kali yang terbagi menjadi 3 hal, yakni baseline, treatmen, dan non-treatmen. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa untuk keempat anak program ini mampu meningkatkan kemampuan interaksi sosial mereka. Hal ini dikarenakan setiap anak secara konsisten mengikuti sesi intervensi, pemahaman anak, dan penggunaan lima kartu sebagai langkah presentasi diri.
