kekuasaan adalah menjadi Machiavellian dan
Hobesian, dan dengan cara demikian
mengkonstruk politik menjadi suatu fenomena
endemis organisasi dan berusaha memahami
organisasi sebagai metafora politik. Peminat
studi politik organisasi perlu menghindari
penempatan diri secara ekstrim ke arah sifat
naif, yaitu melihat politik organisasi sematamata
sebagai hal yang buruk dan melakukan
penghindaran. Konsisten dengan itu, perlu
menghindari penempatan diri secara ekstrem ke
arah sifat penipu, yaitu tendensi melihat politik
sebagai suatu peluang dan bertindak atas dasar
self-interest, self-serving dan selfisness dengan
carapredatori (merusak), manipulasi, berlaku
curang dan bohong.
Para praktisi manajemen disarankan
berhati-hati dalam menterjemahkan reward
power sebagai penerapan kepemimpinan. Hal
ini karena reward power berperan
mempertinggi persepsi politik di lingkungan
kerja. Sebaliknya penerapan kepemimpinan
yang didasarkan pada expert dan referent
power dapat dipertimbangkan dalam membina
hubungan kerja. Hal ini karena expert power
netral dengan persepsi politik organisasi dan
referent power dapat menurunkan tensi politik
organisasi.
