HUCKLEBERRY FINN’S PURSUIT OF FREEDOM IN MARK TWAIN’S THE ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN
Abstract
Abstract. Studi ini membahas pencarian kebebasan oleh Huckleberry Finn, tokoh utama dalam novel Mark Twain yang berjudul The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Tujuan penelitian adalah mendeskripsikan alasan dan usaha Huckleberry Finn untuk memperoleh kebebasan. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan intrinsik dan metode kualitatif. Data diperoleh dari novel dan kutipan diambil untuk mendukung analisis. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa Huckleberry Finn, tokoh utama dalam kisah ini, kehilangan kebebasan dan ia harus memperolehnya kembali. Kebebasannya hilang akibat latar belakang keluarga, hukum di masyarakat dan perbuatan ayahnya. Studi ini juga menemukan cara-cara yang ditempuh Huck Finn untuk memperoleh kebebasannya kembali: melarikan diri dari dunia beradab, melarikan diri dari ayahnya dan membebaskan dari aturan dalam masyarakat. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa kebebasan bagi Huck berarti kebahagiaan dan untuk memperoleh kebahagiaan ia harus memperoleh kebebasannya dari kehidupan beradab yang membatasi.
