FOCUS AND SCOPE

JEM17: Jurnal Ekonomi Manajemen accepts manuscript research results in the fields of marketing management, financial management, operational management, human resource management, and also includes strategic management, but not limited to:

1. Operations Management (Supply Chain, Production System Planning, Production Control, Product Information System)
2. Financial Management (Fiscal Policy, Cost Accounting, Investment Decision, Corporate Budgeting)
3. Human Resource Management (Regeneration of Organizational Position)
4. Marketing Management (Brand Image, Consumer Behavior, e-Commerce, Capital Market)
5. Strategy Management (Business Communication, Risk Management) 

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

JEM17: Jurnal Ekonomi Manajemen is published by the Faculty of the economy and business Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya. The research article submitted to this online journal will be double-blind peer-reviewed (both reviewer and author remain anonymous to each other) at least 2 (two) reviewers. The accepted research articles will be available online following the journal peer-reviewing process. The language used in this journal is English.

For checking Plagiarism, JEM17: Jurnal Ekonomi Manajemen Editor will screen plagiarism manually (offline and online database) on the Title, Abstract, and Body Text of the manuscript, and by using several plagiarism detection software (Turnitin). If it is found a plagiarism indication, the editorial board will reject the manuscript immediately.

Review Process:

  1. Submitted manuscript will be evaluated whether it has conformity with the journal template, purpose and scope of the journal, and the methodology used (rejected if it does not meet the criteria)
  2. Submitted manuscript must be free of plagiarism content, the maximum limit of similarity is 20%. The manuscript will be rejected if the similarity is high, however, the author will be asked for clarification if the similarity is low.
  3. The submitted manuscript will be reviewed by at least two peer reviewers. Reviewers do not know the identity of the author, and the author does not know the identity of the reviewer (double-blind review method). A review of the manuscript will pay attention to the novelty of the writing, the theory used, the method used, the results and discussion, conclusions, and suggestions.
  4. Records given by reviewers will be discussed in the editor's meeting to decide whether the manuscript is rejected, requires major revisions, requires minor revisions, or accepted.
  5. If the submitted manuscript decision is a revision, the author will be contacted to revise the text and must be returned to the editor without delay. 
  6. Authors who cannot submit revisions according to the schedule can contact the editor, to request an extension.
  7. Authors who do not submit the manuscript after the extension is given, the manuscript will be rejected.
  8. After the manuscript has been revised by the author and returned to the editor, the editor will make the final decision

Twice a year, May and November

Important to note:

  1. For the May edition, submission of manuscripts starts from January to April. The review process starts on February.
  2. For the November edition, submission of manuscripts starts from July to Oktober. The review process starts on August.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. Submissions are not complete versions of manuscripts that have been published in conferences or journals
  2. Submission using Microsoft Word file format (* .docx)

  4. Submissions have been adjusted to the writing guidelines which can be found in the author guidelines

  5. Submission is already using the Mendeley application
  6. Upload a cover letter and a statement of the authenticity of the manuscript in PDF format (*PDF)
  7. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed

Technical Guidelines

  2. For the first time writer must register via the following link https://jurnal.untag-sby.ac.id/index.php/JEM17/login. Guide for how to register can be downloaded via the following link https://bit.ly/registrasi, After successful registration, the author can use USERNAME and PASSWORD to log in to JEM17. Every time the author who wants to send a manuscript or check on the status of the manuscript can use that account, WITHOUT MUST REGISTER AGAIN
  3. For authors who already have an account, they can directly log in via the following link https://jurnal.untag-sby.ac.id/index.php/JEM17/login.  After logging in the author can complete the fields required to send the manuscript.   6. In addition to uploading the manuscript, the author must also upload a cover letter and a statement of the authenticity of the manuscript.   7. The manuscripts sent will be reviewed by the editor and only the manuscript that meets the focus and scope, as well as the journal style will be continued into the review process. Each manuscript will be reviewed by at least two people

Writing Guidelines

  1. Manuscripts are scientific writings as a result of research in the fields of clinical psychology, education psychology, development psychology, Social Psychology, Industrial & Organization Psychology that have never been published
  2. Manuscripts must be free of plagiarism. Only manuscripts that have less than 20% in common will be processed.
  3. Authors who enter images, tables, or portions of text that have been published from other places are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner.
  4. All contents of the manuscript and its legal consequences are the responsibility of the author.
  5. The editorial board has the right to make changes related to writing, without changing the substance of the manuscript
  6. Before sending the manuscript to JEM17: Jurnal Ekonomi Manajemen, the writer must be absolutely sure that he wants to publish the manuscript in JEM17. Withdrawal of the manuscript that is in the process of review will be subject to fines. More clearly read Retraction Policies
  7. Manuscripts are written in English. In general, terms should not be abbreviated unless they are used repeatedly and abbreviations help the reader. Use the full word first, followed by abbreviations in parentheses. After that, just use the abbreviation.
  8. Abstract written in English
  9. Script length 15-20 pages (includes bibliography)
  10. A4 paper size with line spacing 1.5 and font Times New Roman 11
  11. The manuscript is written in 1 (one) column format
  12. Quotes and references are written using the Mendeley application

 JEM17: Jurnal Ekonomi Manajemen is a peer-reviewed national journal. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the chief editor, the Editorial Board, the peer-reviewer, and the publisher (Faculty of Economy & Business  Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya). This statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed JEM17: Jurnal Ekonomi Manajemen is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher, and the society.  

Faculty of Economy & Business, Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya as the publisher of JEM17: Jurnal Ekonomi Manajemen takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing extremely seriously and we recognize our ethical and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. In addition, the Faculty of Economy & Business Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya and Editorial Board will assist in communications with other journals and/or publishers where this is useful and necessary.

Publication decisions

The editor of the JEM17: Jurnal Ekonomi Manajemen is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. The editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair play

An editor at any time evaluates manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.

Promptness

Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.

Confidentiality

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

Duties of Authors

Reporting standards

Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention

Authors are asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data (consistent with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases), if practicable, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

Originality and Plagiarism

The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication

An author should not, in general, publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects

If the work involves chemicals, humans, animals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or another substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Fundamental errors in published works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.

EDITORIAL

Reference Management

Writing citations and references must refer to the APA (American Psychological Association) 6th edition reference style. We require the author to use the Mendeley application in writing citations and references.

RETRACTION POLICIES

JEM17: Jurnal Ekonomi Manajemen will be considered to retract in the publication if:

  1. They have clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of misconduct (e.g. data fabrication) or honest error (e.g. miscalculation or experimental error)
  2. The findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, permission or justification (i.e. cases of redundant publication)
  3. It constitutes plagiarism
  4. It reports unethical research

The mechanism of retraction follows the Retraction Guidelines of COPE Retraction Guidelines

Manuscript withdrawal

Withdrawing submitted or published manuscripts is not recommended. If the writer intends to retract the manuscript, the following rules must be followed:

  1. Manuscripts may only be withdrawn for acceptable reasons. Must not withdraw the manuscript because it has been published in another journal.
  2. The author must make a letter requesting withdrawal of the manuscript to the chief editor, along with the reasons for withdrawal. Requests for withdrawal of the manuscript must know all the authors, evidenced by the signature.
  3. If the manuscript being withdrawn is in the process of being reviewed, then the writer must pay 500.000 (IDR)
  4. If the text has been withdrawn, the writer must pay 1.000.000 (IDR)
  5. If the review process of the manuscript is more than 6 months, the writer can withdraw the manuscript without having to pay a fine.

PLAGIARISM POLICY

JEM17: Jurnal Ekonomi Manajemen, has a policy of not publishing manuscripts containing plagiarism. As a preventative measure, we will do a plagiarism check for every manuscript sent to the editor. Only a manuscript that has a 20% similarity level will be processed. If there are manuscripts that have been published and proven plagiarism, then sanctions will be reprimanded until the withdrawal of the manuscript.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

JOURNAL HISTORY

The publication of this journal began in 2016 and was awarded the ISSN-online on June 16, 2016 under the name JEM17: Jurnal Ekonomi Manajemen. This journal regularly issues publications in May and November each year. Themes around economics and management became the main discussion in this journal, especially in terms of operational, financial, marketing, and human resources. This journal prioritizes scientific papers for the development of research and science in the fields of economics and management. Since August 2022, this journal has been accredited rank 4 (SINTA 4) as a scientific journal under the decree of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Decree No. 158/E/KPT/2021, December 9th, 2021.
